QUILL this week consists of three (3) activities DUE FRIDAY by noon on Sunday.

Students are more than welcome to come up during lunch on Friday to work on QUILL or any make-up work.

Please check your student’s grade on PowerSchool for any missing assignments.

Update: Surgery and complete shoulder replacement over Christmas break, so I won’t miss any time with students. Have a great weekend!

 Week of October 14-17

I am implementing some changes this nine weeks (quarter) into my classroom.

QUILL assignments are due by noon on Sunday, no exceptions. The grade is a zero and will remain as such. Students need to be accountable for their actions and to show responsibility on assignments. I would appreciate your support in this effort. Students have three Quill assignments due this Sunday, October 19th.

If your student misses a day from school, there is a folder in Schoology called Daily Assignments. They can find their work there for the day missed and are expected to complete it in a timely manner.

Tuesday-New Vocabulary, New Essay Assignment 

(due date Monday, November 18th), Group assignment on short story, “The Elevator”

Wednesday-Mugshot,  Complete and Submit group assignment, Read A Monster Calls, Writing assignment on novel

Thursday-Substitute plans in place for an in-class writing assignment

Friday-Library visit, reading time, finish Quill

I will not be present at school this Thursday because I will be at a district meeting.

Students should be reading 15-20 minutes per night on the book of their choice.

Week of October 6-8

Plagiarism and cheating are poor choices, unfortunately, sometimes our students make those poor choices in my class.  This past week we completed two writing assignments.  A few students made the choice to have AI write their paper.  Most made the correct choice in writing their own stories, which I greatly appreciate! The consequence for cheating with AI on an assignment is a grade of 0/zero. Please talk to your student about ethical responsibility.

No Quill this week…hooray!

I have created a folder called Daily Assignments in Schoology. If your student is absent, work is there for the day and expected to be made up immediately.

Monday-Open book quiz on A Monster Calls, Read a short story called “The Elevator”

Tuesday-Common Lit RACER assignment on cellphones. 

Wednesday-Vocabulary Unit 1 Test (will go on next quarter’s grades)

Thursday & Friday-Fall Break! (yay)
